160 Vehicles Deployed Around the World
For starters, JLR has deployed a fleet of vehicles globally to support emergency response teams in their front-line fight against COVID-19.
- 57 vehicles, including 27 new Land Rover Defenders, to the British Red Cross
- JLR also loaned vehicles to Red Cross societies in Spain, France, South Africa and Australia. The vehicles were available due to the cancellation of local launch events.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Donations
The company also donated PPE to the National Health Service in the UK to help protect front-line healthcare workers at a time when protective equipment is in short supply. This included wraparound safety glasses to hospitals in Bolton, Leeds and Birmingham.
Contributing Leading-Edge Technology
JLR is also working in cooperation with the UK government to contribute its formidable research and engineering expertise; digital engineering and design; 3D printing capability; machine learning technology, artificial intelligence and data science support in the efforts to curb the spread of the virus.
It’s worth noting that JLR efforts to support the British Red Cross in their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic is not a first-time thing. Land Rover has worked with the Red Cross for 65 years in the UK.
Talking about the company’s support for the Red Cross, Jaguar’s Customer Experience Director, Finbar McFall had this to say, “We will work hand in hand with them to do all we can during this global health emergency. We will also provide help to those closer to home in our local communities. We can all play a part in helping the vulnerable during this global pandemic.”
