The Luxury Cars at the Royal Wedding

A Royal Wedding Means Jaguars, Bentleys & Rolls Royces! Like everyone else, we watched the fairytale wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. To see the beautiful bride and dashing Prince; but we also didn’t mind the spectacular parade of classic Jaguars, Bentleys, and Rolls Royces!

From start to finish, the cars used in the Royal Wedding were a grand display of rare British performance and luxury automobiles.

Here are just a few.

1950 Rolls Royce Phantom IV

Meghan Markle and her mother arrived in a vintage Rolls Royce. That’s said to have been the first in the Queen’s collection. One of only 16 built, it was once used to carry Wallis Simpson to the funeral of her husband, the Duke of Windsor.

2002 Bentley State Limousine

One of two commissioned by the Queen for her Golden Jubilee, this car ferried the Queen and Prince Philip to the nuptials. Except for the two in her classic car collection, no other Bentley State Limousines have ever been built.

1992 Daimler DS 420

Known as ‘semi-state’ limousines, three of these classics. Said to be among the last three ever produced. Carried the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, some of Meghan Markle’s closest friends, the bridesmaids and page boys to the Chapel.

1968/2017 Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero

After the wedding, Harry and Meghan left Windsor Castle in what looked like a spectacularly-restored 1968 Jaguar E-Type Roadster. But we missed the throaty roar of the engine and pleasing notes of the exhaust system as the car pulled away. There was no sound at all.

It turns out the Royal couple was actually driving a 2017 version of the Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero. In an effort to keep their classic cars viable for the future. Jaguar has developed electric powertrains conversions for all their XK-engine vehicles made between 1948 and 1992. The company says the vehicles look, handle and perform like the originals, but with zero emissions.
